Strawberries at last .
It is the strawberry season at last , the weather has been so hot the last couple of months here in the south of England that the strawberries are at least a month early. They are huge possibly the best I have ever grown.Tomorrow is the first of the pickings for me. I just can’t wait …A tub of cream awaits in the fridge !I have been to the allotment every morning really early to water everything as we have had hardly any rain at all. We really need it but there does not seem any sign at the moment.Tomorrow is the first of the pickings for me. FAT TO THIN
It was January 2006 and I had a birthday bash to go to.I could not believe I needed a size 20 dress.I went to the party and felt a frump,everybody said how nice I looked but it did not mean a thing …That was when I decided enough was enough I had to bite the bullet and seriously change my eating habits. Lemon and other citrus …More.
I just love using citrus fruit in my recipes .There is something very clean and fresh about them.I would just love to have a lemon tree with lemons on my allotment or in my garden and have now one which is 2 years old without any lemons.Next year I hope to have succeeded .I have just brought mine indoors for the winter and hopefully it will survive and flourish..Meanwhile more cooking Read the rest of this entry »

What can you do with windfalls?
Somebody gave me a huge bag of windfall apples…I never waste anything if it can be helped .Apples and pears must be the most versatile fruit known and so delicious.It is thought that there are over 2000 different types of English apple but only about 5 are ever sold in the supermarkets…What a waste!! Lemon and other citrus recipes
I have been to see my sister for a long weekend. My sister and her partner live in what I would call old Spain in a small town an hour away from Murcia called Blanca where the only shops you have are mostly food shops with loads of fresh produce.In her very small high street she has 4 bakers,5 greengrocers and 3 delis.
A glut of fruit & veg
