Research reveals that chocolate is good for cardiovascular health.In clinical trials subjects who ate 25grams a day of semi sweet chocolate ,which is rich in flavanols showed reductions in the platlet activity that causes blood components to stick to the blood vessel walls and impede blood flow.and reducing the risk of blood clots.
Other studies have revealed that the flavanols found in chocolate may help decrease the oxidation of “bad” cholesterol.
Europeon research has also shown that dark chocolate has greater anti-oxident properties that can protect us from a whole lot of life threatening diseases includingheart attacks and possibly cancer.
In all these studies ,dark chocolate ,which is higher in flavanols,appeared to contain greater health-giving properties than milk chocolate.
SO IF YOU THOUGHT THAT CHOCOLATE WAS WICKED AND PURE INDULGENCE …….Think again.
200 g bar of dark chocolate
284 ml/1/2 pint whipping cream
10 ml/2 tsp dry instant coffee
4 egg yolks
40ml/2tbs coffee liquer
2 flakes or grated chocolate
8 small serving glasses (or 4 large ones)
Break the chocolate into a blender.Heat the cream with the coffee to boiling point,then pour into the blender and liquidise for 1 minute,until the chocolate has melted.Add the egg yolks and liquer,blend for a further 30 seconds and turn into a bowl .Refidgerate for at least an hour until cold and thick.
Whisk the mixture until light and fluffy ,then stir in the flakes or grated chocolate.Divide the mixture between glasses.
